A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
ETSU, in conjunction with the City of Johnson City Public Works Department, has installed an underground water storage tank under our newly constructed softball field. This 60,000 gallon tank collects and stores all the stormwater from the site, filters it, and then a pump recirculates the water for irrigation of the field. In addition to a reduction in potable water use and a reduction in downstream flooding, an added benefit is the reduction in fertilizer use on the field. In 2010, no additional fertilizer was required for field maintenance and city water was not required for irrigation.
