A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
ETSU has developed a program to reuse computers that no longer meet specifications for higher education use. Providing Area Schools with Technical Assistance (PASTA) is a program run by the Computer and Information Sciences Department. This program serves the dual purpose of providing computers to local schools and providing on-the-job experience for computer science students by pairing students with public schools. These students become the "help desk" for the teachers, trying to solve whatever problems are reported. To complete the loop, ETSU then takes back the unwanted and unserviceable computers being replaced by the refurbished, donated computers and recycles the ewaste responsibily.
