Does the institution hold a campaign that meets the criteria for this credit?:
Yes

The name of the campaign(s):
Recyclemania

A brief description of the campaign(s):

Recyclemania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Over a 10-week period, schools report recycling and trash data which are then ranked according to who collects the largest amount of recycleables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita, or have the highest recycling rate.
ETSU has participated in Recyclemania for 2 years, placing near the top among participating TN schools. ETSU Recyclemania is organized by the Student Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO), Facilities Management, Department of Housing and Residence Life, and Dining Services.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):

In addition to a marked increase in our recycling rate during the 10-week Recyclemania competition, the largest and most important impact has been the improved coordination between various groups on campus. Planning for the competition requires Athletics, Housing and Residence Life, EcoReps, ECO (the Student Environmental Group), and other groups to come together to get the entire campus involved. Another positive impact has been the number of student service-learning students who have become involved in this program. During spring semester, 40 students in Early Childhood Education were involved in our Recycling campaign with 6 performing 30 hours of service exclusively in Recyclemania.
