Students must reside in student housing, have at least a sophmore standing, and be enthusiastic, engaging individuals who are passionate about environmental and social skills. Student educators must submit an application, resume, and essay on why they want to be an EcoRep.

EcoNuts receive initial and ongoing training from the Department of Sustainability and Department of Housing and Residence Life.

EcoNuts are supervised by an EcoNuts Coordinator who is supervised by the Sustainability Director. Partial funding for this program is provided by the ETSU Campus Sustainability Fee, a self-imposed student fee to advance sustainability on the campus.
EcoNuts are provided a stipend for 5 hours per week.
