Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes

A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
ECU’s Purple Pantry is a collaborative effort between ECU’s Collegiate Recovery Community (ECU Recovery) and many entities of ECU’s Division of Student Affairs. While we have many organizations and departments we work with, some of our closest partners are the Center for Leadership and Civil Engagement, the Dean of Students Office, and Off Campus Student Services. With many things taking place at ECU, our Greenville-Pitt County Partnerships are also paramount to ending food insecurity on our campus and in our community. Much of what we do could not be accomplished without the likes of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC and the Churches Outreach Network here in Greenville.

Members of the ECU Recovery community donate their time and energy to creating a sustainable resource on campus to combat food insecurity, an issue many don’t realize exists on college campuses. As a service initiative, the Purple Pantry is ECU Recovery’s way of ending the stigma of food insecurity among young people. Since opening late Spring 2018, ECU Purple Pantry has collected over 1,000 pounds of non-perishable goods and toiletries, provided over 175 meals to ECU students, and donated nearly 200 pounds of surplus goods back to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC.
