For support staff and faculty, total compensation is achieved through the collective bargaining process. Collective agreements are usually agreed upon for either a 2 or 3 year cycle. For administrative staff, salary bands have been frozen since 2009.

- Durham College is a unionized setting, where terms and conditions of employment and salaries are negotiated through the collective bargaining processes.
- Durham College provides a comprehensive benefits package as well as a defined benefit plan.
