Signage
A brief description of the signage that highlights sustainability features on campus:
LEED Certification Plaques in certified buildings/areas and low-flow toilet signage exist on campus where applicable. Signage on hydration stations informs students how many plastic water bottles were avoided by using each machine. The PNC Atrium in the student union has a display dedicated to campus sustainability practices. Outside of the Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering office, there is a screen with a slideshow of sustainability facts, campus events, and off-campus events, which is regularly updated through Rise Vision. Additionally, Rockwell Hall has a 55-inch flat-screen TV dashboard that shows the building's energy consumption. This is meant to highlight sustainability and make students more conscious of their environmental impact.
Sustainability map or tour
A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:
The Department of Environmental and Energy Engineering created a sustainable walking tour/route. The previous Graduate Coordinator, Mary Kate Ranii, took prospective Environmental Science undergraduate and graduate students on this route when they visited campus throughout 2022 and 2023. This tour route and information were presented to the Admissions Office so tour guides can be trained to make note of sustainability facts while on tour.
Additionally, Gabriella Zuccolotto (a previous Graduate Assistant at Duquesne University) created an interactive ArcGIS map of Duquesne's campus that highlights locations on campus where sustainable action has been taken. The map can be accessed through the Duquesne Sustainability website or directly through the ArcGIS link:
