The Duquesne University One-Year MBA (formerly the MBA in Sustainable Business Practices) offers regular speakers for the entire campus about professional development in the sustainability sector. From topics ranging from: Sustainability as a Strategic Business Imperative for All Companies to The Foundation for Building the Bank of the Future and Mitigating Social and Environmental Risks, the entire campus community is able to learn more about a number of pertinent sustainability factors, especially as they relate to the workplace.
A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
A program titled "EnviroBytes," is open to the public and is sponsored by the Center for Environmental Research and Education (CERE). EnviroBytes is a monthly series in which a guest speaker is invited to discuss topics related to the environment and sustainability. This gives individuals the opportunity to learn more about environmental research developments, job opportunities with nonprofits, and ways to live more sustainably. In addition, the former CERE program administrator, Mary Kate Ranii, hosted a webinar titled "Recycling 101: How Does Recycling Work and How does DUQ Recycle?" which was recorded and sent out to Duquesne faculty and staff via email. This presentation explained recent changes in recycling worldwide, how to recycle on Duquesne's campus, and how recycling can help the planet and individual lives.

The graduate program coordinators within CERE are informed of recent sustainability initiatives and are often expected to help contribute to campus sustainability in one way or another. Additionally, Facilities Management discusses sustainability in performance reviews when discussing campus improvements that need to be made and how sustainability should be reflected in their decisions.
