Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Geo-Exchange System Installation
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
In 2023, Dickinson renovated our Historic President's House to become a new Alumni Center. We employed many sustainable features in the house, but most notable and innovative is the inclusion of a geo-exchange heating and cooling system, which is designed to accommodate all HVAC loads in the house. This is our first geo-exchange system on campus. The system employs eight wells that are 300 feet deep. The system is 40-50% more efficient than a more conventional system, which does not employ the renewable energy inherent in a geo-exchange system.
