All new construction and major renovations projects seek to obtain LEED certification and Green Building Council guidelines are followed for the management of construction and demolition waste. The removal and diversion of construction waste is typically written into the contract of the project’s General Contractor as follows and requires them to submit data report of diverted and residual waste for each project.
Our construction and demolition waste statement: Dickinson College is committed to diverting project related construction and demolition waste from landfills and incineration facilities. It is the college’s expectation that the Contractor shall salvage, reuse and recycle all nonhazardous materials associated with all projects. Provide a Landfill Waste Diversion Plan to the college prior to the commencement of any construction activity. Calculate the weight of all project-related material that is salvaged, reused, and recycled as well as the weight of all project-related materials disposed of in landfills and/or incineration facilities. Weights shall be submitted at end of the project. The weight of excavated soil and land-clearing debris are excluded.
