A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
All faculty members were contacted by the Campus Sustainability Committee with the opportunity to participate in a faculty survey in January 2020. Several faculty members who had not completed the survey but had known history of sustainability research were contacted individually to provide information on their current sustainability research.
The total number of employees that conduct research was determined by how many professors (full and part-time) are employed at DePauw (PRE 5), the number of employees doing research in each academic departments was assumed to be the same number of academic departments on campus (see PRE 5) and the number of departments including at least one person engaged in sustainability research was calculated by adding together the responses from the faculty survey (see attachment).
