A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
DePauw University conducted an extensive campus and community survey which culminated in 2005 with a recommendation to make an on-site child care facility available specifically for infants since there were many close and convenient childcare alternatives for toddlers and pre-school children. Later that year, DePauw partnered with New Pathways, a locally owned and nationally accredited preschool, to operate the DePauw on-site childcare for infants in a University owned and maintained building. DePauw invested more than $100,000 to remodel the building which accommodates up to 16 children ranging in age from approximately 6 weeks to 16 months. Although the child care is open to the entire community, preference is given to University faculty, staff and students. The University does not subsidize the child care at this time.
