A brief description of the practice:
DePaul University's Student Leadership Institute (SLI)Certificate of Leadership Development Program:
Since 1999, SLI has offered undergraduate students the chance to earn the Certificate of Leadership Development (CLD). Completion of this program earns a student a certificate signed by DePaul University’s president and a notation on your official university transcript upon graduation.
To earn the CLD you must complete three phases:
Envision Phase:
Envision the possibilities for you, your leadership, and your communities! Complete 6 required workshops and a reflection to earn SLI’s Foundations of Socially Responsible Leadership Certificate
Empower Phase
Empower yourself and others by completing one of several shorter, specialized leadership certificates
Specialized certificates include:
Civic Engagement & Leadership Certificate
Cultural Competence and Leadership Certificate
Engage Phase
Engage in leadership and put what you’re learning into action by completing the leadership experience requirement, community service requirement, a reflection workshop, and your Leadership Capstone.
Completion of all three phases will result in the CLD noted on your transcript. As indicated in the Engage Phase of the program, all participants earning the CLD engage in community service.
