The Sustainability Initiatives Task Force that began as an ad hoc committee includes faculty, staff, and student representation from across the university. Five working groups were established to conduct the STARS audit and to make recommendations in five separate areas: Curriculum, Operations, Research, Administration, and Engagement.

The plan includes a number of measurable goals relating to the various credit items in the STARS audit. Nearly all of the recommendations in the Sustainability Plan are based in the metrics of the STARS audit.

Pending the adoption of portions of the Sustainability Plan into the University's strategic plan, the University may conduct a STARS audit in 2 - 3 years to measure progress toward the Sustainability Plan. However, it is unknown at this time how exactly the Sustainability Plan will be adopted, implemented, or measured.
