Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
100

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

Denison participates in the "Great Colleges to Work For" survey which is designed for anonymous reporting. Denison participates in this survey every three years. The results of the survey are shared with Denison along with how we compare to other colleges.

Denison had a response rate of 63.7% of all employees. Based on sample size and class of employees (Faculty, Admin, or Support Staff) Denison had 100% assessed by representative sample. In all, 793 surveys were sent out with 505 responses received.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Denison established a working group that included Faculty, Administrators, and Supportive Operating Staff to administer and evaluate the survey. This working group's members used a scorecard developed by Modern Think (company that the Chronicle of Higher Education uses for the survey). The scorecard helped identify areas that were ranked negatively. From there, open forums were held for faculty and staff and recommendations on what actions should be taken were developed based on the feedback. A report was provided to Senior Staff and appropriate departments were contacted and asked to take action on issues identified within their areas.

Denison has both a Personnel Committee and Engagement and Communication Committee, which focus on issues relating to employee satisfaction. Some of these items from the survey were addressed by these Committees.
