A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
Each year the Office of Sustainability tracks courses offered by the college and determines which are sustainability-focused courses and which courses are sustainability-inclusive. Included in this are periodic surveys to the faculty to assess content of these courses and allow faculty to self-identify courses they teach as falling into one of these two categories based on their syllabi.
Generally speaking Denison uses the United Nations Sustainability Development goals as the benchmark for helping determine which courses fit and which do not.
Some courses at Denison become sustainability-related based on who teaches the course and their particular interest in sustainability issues.

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
To simplify counting, all sections of a course are counted, however, cross listed courses are only counted once to avoid double-counting. To the extent possible, only courses that are 3-4 credit courses are included in this inventory. In other words, we attempted to leave out 1 credit seminar courses and things like music lessons.
