Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
Yes
Percentage of employees (staff and faculty) assessed, directly or by representative sample (0-100):
100
A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
Denison participates in the Chronicle’s Best Colleges to Work For survey which is designed for anonymous reporting. Denison participates in this survey every three years. The results of the survey are shared with Denison along with how we compare to other colleges.
We had a response rate of 68% of all employees and based on sample size and class of employees (Faculty, Admin, or Support Staff) we had 100% assessed by representative sample.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation (including examples from the previous three years):
Denison established a committee that included Faculty, Administrators, and Supportive Operating Staff. Committee members used a scorecard developed by Modern Think (company that the Chronicle uses for the survey). The scorecard helped identify areas that were ranked negatively. From there, open forums were held for faculty and staff and recommendations on what actions should be taken were developed based on the feedback. A report was provided to Senior Staff and appropriate departments were contacted and asked to take action on issues identified within their areas.
Denison has both a Personnel Committee and Engagement and Communication Committee, that focus on issues relating to employee satisfaction. Some of these items from the survey were addressed by these groups.
