The School of Professional Advancement and Continuing Education (SPACE) through the Institute for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education (iPACE) offers two certifications of Lean Six Sigma: Yellow belt and Green belt.
Lean Six Sigma is a philosophy, mindset and management style that emphasizes data and fact-based decision making and is applicable wherever variation and waste exists. It gives importance to continuous improvement that values proactive approaches to ensure the prevention, control, elimination of defects, variations and lean wastes and ensures an exemplary customer experience. It drives bottom-line results and promotes the use of work standardization and flow.
For yellow belt certification, students will be able to understand basic Lean Six Sigma concepts and to learn how to report process issues to Green Belts and Black Belts. They will also receive just-in-time training and become capable of participating on project teams.
For green belt certification, students will learn how to start and manage Lean Six Sigma projects with expertise but in less detail than Black Belts. They will also be capable of providing just-in-time training to others.
