Green ENERGY, Green School Initiative

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:

The Green Energy-Green Schools initiative is the De La Salle Lipa's drive to shift to a low-carbon community by promoting clean, renewable energy and adopts energy efficiency practices. As a first step, in 2017, the school crafted a Power and Energy Roadmap that starts in compliance with the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) EPIRA Law requirements for Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) to Electricity Consumers, the school engaged with an independent power producer with a bias towards renewable sources.
To date, almost 80% of De La Salle Lipa's (DLSL) electricity is from certified renewables, specifically, from geothermal sources under a Filipino-owned company, FirstGen-Energy Development Corporation, through its Bacman Geothermal Plant.

DLSL Power Mix shifts close to 80% Renewable Energy Sources. A total of 4.6GWh (78.29%) electricity delivered from November 2017 to October 2019. This translates to 2,811 tons COe avoided and the same environmental impact of avoiding 250,000 liters of gasoline, 97,000 incandescent bulbs switched to LED, and 91,000** seedlings planted.
