Part 1. Wellness program

A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):

Staff and faculty hired for more than 6 months have reduced rates to athletic programs, financial allocations to take courses at the centre for training & development at the College, and as students have, available psychological and medical counseling or consultation when needed as part of a college group insurance package. As of 2024, staff also have 1hr per week they can volunteer or join recreatiional activities during their workday. Paid sick days, leave for both father and mother after childbirth or adoption, and short-term and long-term disability leave are all standard benefits. See Assistance Program (EAP)
As per the Quebec National Assembly Bill 151, making it mandatory for all educational institutions to formally address sexual violence and discrimination in the workplace, a College steering committee was struck in 2018 that included the participation of representatives of all categories of employees and a representative of the College Student Union.

A Mandatory on-line orientation to these policies is given to all new and existing employees, with one-on-one follow up with a HR representative if needed. This process is tracked and reminders are sent to any employee that hasn't completed the orientation. The previous on-line workshop was 2024.
Students at Dawson have full-time psychologists available for counseling by appointment, career counsellors & academic advisors for career information, a full-time nurse available within a health service office, and access to a medical doctor as well. https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/counselling/
