Part 1
Does the committee, office and/or officer focus on students, employees, or both?:
An EDI advisory committee of staff and students met throughout the year in 2022 to make recommendations to the academic dean and the strategic plan task force. The physical education dept., catering to over 4000 students a semester, has a separate EDI committee that reviews course content, methods and staff professional development. As well, the Human Resources dept has a legal requirement to submit a report to the Quebec Human Rights body on EDI and hiring at the college and has a specific job responsibility for this task. Human Resources has a Parity Committee and equal access employment program. Teachers at Dawson have a legal obligation to serve students with disabilities and this is reviewed aspart of onboarding procedures. The Human Resources department has numerous policies and implements progressive provincial legislation including:
1. Dawson College policy to stem violence, discrimination, harassment, and abuse of power
