Please note that assured reports are still subject to review by AASHE staff prior to publication, which may require additional revisions. AASHE reserves the right to withhold points for this credit if it is determined that the assurance process was clearly unsuccessful in identifying and resolving inconsistencies or errors (e.g., when AASHE staff identify a significant number of issues that were either not mentioned in the completed review template or not resolved successfully).
Did the assurance process include internal review, an external audit, or both?:
The name, title, and organizational affiliation of each reviewer:
Chris Adam - Coordinator - Dawson Sustainability Office
Jenn de Vera - Program development - Dawson Sustainability Office
Sophie La Font - Project Coordination - Dawson Sustainability Office
Cesar Maldonado - External Consultant - Quality Control (for CEGEP Vert report and AASHE Report)
Ecometrica Inc. - GHG emission report (Scope 1,2 & 3) including consultation time
A brief description of the institution’s assurance process:
- All incoming data was collected and vetted by the Office of Sustainability team.
- All GHG emission reporting and verification was produced by Ecomentrica Inc, an outside consulting firm specializing in GHG calculations. Consulting time for questions and clarification of processes was embedded in the contract of Ecometrica.
- HR-related indicators were screened by Azra Khan, sustainability representative for Human Resources.
- The entire AASHE document was reviewed by Cesar Maldonado, outside sustainability consultant and feedback debriefed. Cesar Maldonado was involved in consulting with the provincial Cegep Vert report as well. In total, weeks were spent with this consultant reviewing all aspects of the Office of Sustainability processes, data collecting, governance, and, in short, all aspects of sustainability that the AASHE review process initiates.
- Important Note: the Review Template addresses major concerns or questions only. Hundreds of conversations that helped refine indicator metrics and reports could not be recorded due to the volume of material.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
As mentioned above the Review Template addresses major concerns or questions only. Hundreds of conversations and the associated notes, emails and virtual calls/meetings that helped refine indicator metrics and reports could not be recorded simply due to the volume of material. Office of Sustainability staff reviewed several different submission reports with similar indicators or criteria and information pooled from several reports, including AASHE & Cegep Vert , and Race-to-Zero.
The information presented here is self-reported. While AASHE staff review portions of all STARS reports and institutions are welcome to seek additional forms of review, the data in STARS reports are not verified by AASHE. If you believe any of this information is erroneous or inconsistent with credit criteria, please review the process for inquiring about the information reported by an institution or simply email your inquiry to stars@aashe.org.
