A brief description of the bicycle sharing program:
Since 2018, Dawson has partnered with Bixi bikes (bike sharing) of Montreal. Bixi bike membership reductions of 20% are also offered to all employees. Alternative transpoprtation through Bixi Bikes was promoted to all staff. This campaign started for 20 employees and has now been expanded. The cost was absorbed by the Office of Sustainability operational budget.
Any bike user at Dawson who has a personal issue arise and needs a Taxi or Uber ride can simply show a reciept to the Offuice of Sustainability and it will be reimbursed.
In 2024, the Dawson Student Union developed a Bixi Bike cost reduction program that will be implemented in 2025.

Reserved parking for electric vehicles with charging stations are placed in the main parking area..

Two charging stations with two lines each are available to all employees for 4 hr periods. This was subsedized entirely by the college with a partial grant from the provincial government. Painted logos were apllied to the payment, signs placed over the stations and security teams trained how to monitor the startions for proper use.

- Dawson has increased its on-site parking fees during the last three years to $10.00 per day and caps its on-site parking at a total of 60 spots for a staff population of 1100 and a student population of about 10,000 (day and evening). Evening and weekend parking is available for a fee of $5.00.
- Workshops on winter biking and bike repair were offered to employees.
3. Facilities Management employees can travel by bike under a purchased "corporate pass" (Bixi Bikes).
4. A permanent outdoor bike repair station is available to all bikers.

6. a scooter and motorbike parking area was expanded and clearly marked - security cameras with a clear view.

The Transport Association of Montreal (STM) gives a reduced student rate for subway and bus use.
We applied for "Velo-Sympathique" and received honourable mention for our bike program. A formed committee of Dawson employees will resubmit for certification next year.
