Leadership Network: This session is an opportunity for Presidents and Directors General from across Canada to come together, meet new colleagues, network and discuss strategic issues that are critical to strengthen the college and institute system. Join this interactive networking session, organized in collaboration with CICan Coordinating Committee of the Presidents’ Leadership Network (PLN), to hear guest speakers’ and your peers’ perspectives on hot topics and issues of interest and share yours. 


World College & Polytechnic Conference - April 20-24, 2023

Dawson hosted an internationl youth group with daily workshops. Themes included leadership training, sustainable happiness, well-being as a ore institutional value, Living Campus, and field visits to colleges leading in sustainability action.

 Presentation of Youth conference achievements and signing of the WCP Declaration, which was edited and strengthened by the youth group at Dawson to meet action and sustainability objectives.

Campus Biodiversity Network presented (Dawson is a member) and Dawson announced its 1000 species in 1000 days initiative to attract and identify species on its urban campus.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:

John Abbott College - Help in creating a sustainability data collecting culture and assessment. 
Canadore College - MOU to share best practices in sustainability amongst an urban and rural college. Weekly meetings with sustainability staff to review projects and develop up-coming initiatives.

Several other colleges for 1-2 meetings/year - not fomal partnerships - sharing drivers and barriers of sustainability in institutes of higher education.


Has the institution had employees or students serving as peer reviewers of another institution’s sustainability data and/or STARS submission during the previous three years?:

A brief description of the peer review activities:

John Abbott College has been working with Dawson for over a year on reviewing and discussing reporting and tracking of sustainability criteria. We also mentor Canadore College in North Bay Ontario with sustainability initiatives and tracking. We meet weekly about Canadore's AASHE STARS report for the 2023-24 school year. Several other colleges (10-15) have contacted Dawson with regards to GHG emission calculations and tracking.

Preparatoria Tres Marias , Mexico - Living Campus attribute inventory and Sustainable Happiness certificate implementation.
