Students at Dawson have full-time psychologists available for counseling by appointment, career counsellors & academic advisors for career information, a full-time nurse available within a health service office, and access to a medical doctor as well. https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/counselling/ Staff and faculty hired for more than 6 months have reduced rates to athletic programs, financial allocations to take courses at the centre for training & development at the College, and as students have, available psychological and medical counseling or consultation when needed as part of a college group insurance package. Paid sick days, leave for both father and mother after childbirth or adoption, and short-term and long-term disability leave are all standard benefits. As per the Quebec National Assembly Bill 151, making it mandatory for all educational institutions to formally address sexual violence and discrimination in the workplace, a College steering committee was struck in 2018 that included the participation of representatives of all categories of employees and a representative of the College Student Union. Article 6 of the Policy to Stem Violence, Discrimination, Harassment and the Abuse of Power reviews the protocol for staff and students to follow with any complaints: https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/wp-content/external-includes/spdocs/documents/bog-hr-01-stem-violence-discrimination-harassment-and-abuse-of-power.pdf Safer Spaces program: The Safer Spaces Initiative attempted to start a Dawson-wide conversation about the ways in which challenging topics such as micro-aggressions, and/or colonial or misogynistic attitudes, etc., play out in the College and how we could learn as a community to build on our strengths and manage them. https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/womens-gender-studies/safer-spaces/
