Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published indoor air quality (IAQ) management policy or protocol? (0-100):
100

A copy of the IAQ management policy or protocol:

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published green cleaning policy, program or contract ? (0-100):
100

A copy or the green cleaning policy:
---

A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:

The cleaning contract details specifically mention the use of eco-logo cleaning products and toilet paper FSC certified. Both were checked in August 2020 and were in use all of the previous year with the new service provider (Fervel Inc.). Product use in the trollies of employees that work throughout the College are verified 2-3 times a year.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:

Full-time staff monitor the air flow, air quality and heating of every room through a computerized central program that gives details on all rooms in the College.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
80

A brief description of the water management or benchmarking program:

Water management: Water is metered and gives several daily "checks" per day in most wings of the college but not all. This allows for comparative data selection and possible leaks in the case of a rapid increase in volume over similar periods. Because Dawson's building is over 100 years old, mechanized tools with cameras are sent into aging pipes to gauge wear and a replacement plan is designed before leaks occur.

Air Quality Complaints:

Specific air quality complaints are made in three ways. 1) directly to the Facilities Management department, 2) to Dawson’s Health & Safety Committee (https://www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/facilities-management/health-safety/) , or 3) through unions representing faculty, support staff or professionals.

These complaints are sent as a first step to the Facilities Management department and the manager with HVAC responsibilities directs HVAC technicians to investigate and collect data according to the type of complaint (e.g. is it a local one room problem, many rooms, a hallway, etc.). Most problems have solutions that are addressed internally and, once resolved, registered in a spreadsheet as a record of complaint, date, and action taken. Should the problem be one that can’t be readily identified or solved, the file is escalated and an external consultant or air quality testing is engaged by a 3rd party.
Complaints that are sent to the Health & Safety Committee of the College are sent to the Health & Safety Officer and the Chair of the Health & Safety Committee. Confidentiality will be respected, if this is requested by anyone making the complaint. The Committee will investigate with the Facilities Management department and follow-up all questions, concerns and complaints that are directed to its attention. Complaints directed to union offices will be relayed through the Health & Safety Committee, as all College unions have representatives on the Health & Safety Committee.

Chemicals in the air:
Various chemical sensors monitor specific gases in labs and the shipping area of the college. Any amount of gas monitored over a safety threshold triggers an alarm and subsequent protocol (e.g. evacuation or air flow/exhaust increase or physical investigation depending on type of air quality issue). Throughout the College air is monitored by CO2 sensors and intake air gauged accordingly by the computerized system in place.
