A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
Vehicle Anti-Idling Guideline: The anti-idling guideline aims to support Dalhousie's goal to reduce resource consumption and emissions release through the reduction of unnecessary idling. Vehicle emissions produce pollutants that contribute to climate change, smog and acid rain affecting the health of people, infrastructure, and the ecology.
Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan: The university has a TDM plan with key goals of reducing the need for parking spaces, reducing auto-related emissions and improving air quality.
Vehicle sharing and green fleet guidelines: Initiatives outlined in these guidelines help to support the key goals of the TDM plan.
