Part 1

Does the institution have policies and/or guidelines in place to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources on campus?:
Yes

None
A brief description of the policies and/or guidelines to improve outdoor air quality and minimize air pollutant emissions from mobile sources:
Vehicle Anti-Idling Guideline: The anti-idling guideline aims to support Dalhousie's goal to reduce resource consumption and emissions release through the reduction of unnecessary idling. Vehicle emissions produce pollutants that contribute to climate change, smog and acid rain affecting the health of people, infrastructure, and the ecology. Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan: The university has a TDM plan with key goals of reducing the need for parking spaces, reducing auto-related emissions and improving air quality. Vehicle sharing and green fleet guidelines: Initiatives outlined in these guidelines help to support the key goals of the TDM plan.

Part 2

Has the institution completed an inventory of significant air emissions from stationary campus sources or else verified that no such emissions are produced?:
Yes

Weight of the following categories of air emissions from stationary sources::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) 31.03 Metric tons
Sulfur oxides (SOx) 17.50 Metric tons
Carbon monoxide (CO) 35.46 Metric tons
Particulate matter (PM) 7.02 Metric tons
Ozone (O3) ---
Lead (Pb) ---
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) ---
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) ---
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 0.59 Metric tons

None
A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
This emission data was generated in the process of filling the federal National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) for all campuses (Halifax and Agricultural). NPRI requirements and methodology was employed in completing the inventory. https://www.ec.gc.ca/inrp-npri/default.asp?lang=en&n=4a577bb9-1
