The College of Sustainability teaches mandatory courses for Sustainability students (approx 200 each year). In first year all students take SUST 1000.06 An Introduction to Environment, Sustainability, and Society. One of the assignments in this class is a pre and post paper on "What is Sustainability". Attached is the course outline that includes the assessment information.

A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:
The position papers are required for all students enrolled in SUST 1000. They have been a part of the SUST 1000 curriculum for the past nine years. The assessment was developed by the interdisciplinary faculty team who designed the course.

It is a representative sample of College of Sustainability students not the full University student body.

Perspective have changed from the start to the end of class about multiple dimensions of sustainability, different viewpoints and assumptions, and knowledge about sustainability topics.
