The policies, guidelines, and/or agreements with the institution's business partners (or a representative sample):
Dalhousie has a number of sustainability considerations and requirements in RFP, tenders, and contracts with business partners. Depending on the scope of the service and/or goods, specific sustainability requirements are outlined by vendor – for example diversion targets for building projects and local food sourcing requirements. For all contractors, regardless of goods and services, set university environmental standards are required and outlined in documents such as contracts and contractors check lists. All contractors must follow legal labour standards such as minimum wage. These standards include:
Quality of the Environment:
No Smoking Policy - http://www.dal.ca/dept/safety/documents-policies-procedures/no-smoking.html
Vehicle Anti-Idling Guideline – http://office.sustainability.dal.ca/Programs/Transportation/Idle-Less_and_Greeni/index.php
General Cleanliness - Vendors shall ensure that Dalhousie’s property is kept clean of any rubbish or surplus materials resulting from the performance of services on behalf of Dalhousie.
Safety:
