The Creighton Global Initiative (CGI) incentives faculty research grants that will strengthen the ideals of global citizenship by forming international relationships, engaging worldly crises, and building a better world.

The Creighton Global Initiative will fund the 2017 proposals for a total of nearly $1.0 million beginning July 1, 2017.

The Creighton Global Initiative is deepening our understanding of the local as global while continuing to open up our minds, hearts and souls to the world in unique ways. It is helping us better uphold the dignity of all people and bring a global perspective to our research mission.

One example of a funded CGI project on sustainability is the Sustainable Innovations in the Caribbean: This project will serve to jump-start transition to renewable energy systems by partnering with the ILAC (CESI) center in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Opportunities for research, application, and innovation will be sought for sustainable approaches in agriculture, business, and livelihoods.

The Dr. George F. Haddix President's Faculty Research Fund supports and enhances the research and scholarly productivity of full-time faculty at Creighton University. Faculty are encouraged to involve students in their research programs and scholarly endeavors. Of particular interest in this year's round of funding will be interdisciplinary team-focused projects that cross two or more schools or colleges or two or more disciplines.

Two recent 2017 grants related to sustainability are titled "An Inter-professional Mental Health Program Model Addressing the Unique Needs of Impoverished Ethnically Diverse Women Experiencing Depression" and "The Nebraska Sandhills in Interdisciplinary Perspective."
