Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
Yes
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The UNH SIMAP system was used to calculate both the baseline FY2005 emissions and the FY2020 emissions. A Market-Based method was used for Scope 2 reporting. Data was provided by Facilities Operations.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
Data was compiled from Facilities Operations by the Assistant Director of Sustainability and input into SIMAP. The data and results were then independently reviewed by a faculty member and the Environmental Model Committee.
Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
Commuter data was collected through a survey of faculty and staff to determine modes of transportation. Commuter mileage estimates were calculated using information from Human Resources. The number of commuters was calculated using a weighted average to take into account the campus closure for the last 3 months of the fiscal year. Solid waste was calculated based on the weight of trash sent to a mass burn incinerator. Study abroad emissions (reported above as "Other" were calculated based on estimated round-trip flight miles taken by 69 students to 35 different study abroad locations. Transmission and Distribution Losses (reported above as "Fuel and energy related activities not included in Scope 1 or 2) were calculated in SIMAP.
