A brief description of the institution’s LGBTQ-inclusive policies, programs and practices:
Connecticut College scored 5/5 in the areas of Support & Institutional Commitment and Campus Safety on the Campus Pride Index report card. The College received 4 or 4.5 on all other categories. The College was also ranked as "Best In State for LGBTQ Students" by the Campus Pride Index and BestColleges.com. Our Campus Pride Index report card can be found here: https://www.campusprideindex.org/campuses/details/360?campus=connecticut-college Some of the programs, policies and practices that influenced our ranking are as follows: The LGBTQIA Center at Connecticut College was founded in 2007 and has served as a resource for students, faculty, and staff by providing a supportive space, educational programming, and social events. Connecticut College has gender-inclusive restrooms in most buildings and residence halls, and provides a map to these facilities on the college website. Students are able to opt in to gender inclusive housing from their first year and are able to select a roommate of any sex or gender. Students, faculty and staff are able to select a preferred name to be displayed in class rolls, the campus directory, and on their college ID.
