The IPEDS FTE calculation for the 12-month Enrollment Survey is based on credit hours. The FTE figures equal the total number of undergraduate credit hours for the academic year divided by 30 (or 24 for graduate students, if there are any). Our AY 2016-17 FTE (1995) exceeded headcount (1928) because undergraduate students, on average, took more than 30 credit hours.
