6.1 Sustainability-focused community partnerships
Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s sustainability-focused community partnerships:
- The SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation https://www.concordia.ca/about/shift/funded-partners.html
The groups that SHIFT collaborates with are imagining new futures for Montreal. From food security to health services, our partners are creating alternative spaces, filling service gaps, and piloting projects that attempt to change systems.
We link partners to relevant university resources across a range of access points including our downtown working and event space, student internship program, and research collaborations.
- The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) https://www.concordia.ca/about/community/office/projects.html
Based at Concordia’s SHIFT Centre, the OCE is dedicated to enhancing Concordia's ability to develop and sustain respectful and impactful relationships between the university and the diverse communities of Montreal. In addition to amplifying the work of our Concordia colleagues and partners, the OCE leads its own dynamic programs and projects to foster collaboration, creativity and partnerships. The OCE also proudly supports a diverse range of initiatives that help bridge Concordia and the community. - The Simone de Beauvoir Institute Community Engagement Partnerhsips https://www.concordia.ca/artsci/sdbi/community-engagement/partnerships.html
We partner with groups, activists and community organizations in a variety of ways, such as co-sponsoring events, hosting our students for experiential learning opportunities through community placements, collaborating on community-based research projects and organizing for social justice. Our faculty, staff and students are also active members of feminist networks across the city of Montreal and internationally.
