A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):
Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) work in collaboration on issues related to Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) at the university.
Examples of their preventative maintenance measures include testing of the water in cooling towers for bacteria and the inspection of cooling towers.
Annual asbestos air monitoring is conducted in the Hall building (H), the Visual Arts building (VA), the Refectory (RF) and some parts of the Recreation and Athletics Complex (RA).
EHS provides a service of basic IAQ monitoring for any occupied space (classrooms, labs, studios, offices, etc.). More in-depth monitoring (ex. mold, volatile organic compounds) is performed if deemed necessary following an assessment by EHS’s professional staff.
Anyone within the Concordia community can report an IAQ problem/complaint via online form or by phone.
All of Concordia's occupied spaces are covered by these IAQ practices.
