In 2015, the student group Sustainable Concordia ran an outreach campaign on the importance of a university sustainability policy.

The outreach campaign included consultation workshops for students. About 40 groups and individuals (students, staff, faculty) signed a petition inviting the university administration to support the creation of a sustainability policy.
The input from the student consultation workshops was included in the administration sustainability policy community consultation and the policy is currently being created through the university official policy-making process.

Compost collection bins were set up in office kitchenettes, desk-side trashes were removed, and educational materials provided to encourage proper sorting of waste by office occupants.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
The pilot project, affecting 100 employees, yielded an increase by 85% of diversion from the landfill on the three test floors. The project is now being phased in to remaining offices at Concordia, which will affect over 2,500 full time equivalent employees and is expected to divert over 60 metric tonnes of organics and container recycling per year.

In February 2014, Concordia Students Union (CSU) organized a conference about food security titled "Concordia Transitions". It was described as a student conference on "Urban Agriculture, Alternative Economics and the massive potential for change within the Concordia university Food-system."
In August 2014, the student-governed Hive Café Solidarity Co-op was established. (http://hivecafe.ca)
