A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Concordia College offers multiple cultural competence trainings and activities for its students.
Cultural activities:
Each year, Concordia's Cultural Events Office sponsors several major events on campus, including touring artist performances and the Faith, Reason and World Affairs Symposium. The Cultural Events Office also helps promote additional Arts and Humanities events on campus including art exhibits, lectures, the Concordia Christmas Concert, National Book Awards and more. Through these events, students have the chance to engage in discussion on worldly topics, enjoy amazing dance and music performances, and become a part of the Concordia community. Cultural events are supported in part by the late Stanley and Dorothy Kresge, Minnesota State Arts Board, the North Dakota Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Competence trainings:
Trainings in cultural competence are offered through some of the LeadNow sessions offered by the Parke Student Leadership Center. Concordia College is also one of the sponsors of the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, and encourages and supports students to attend. The Forum annual event that inspires students and other citizens to become active participants in peacemaking efforts around the world. Other opportunities are available through the Office of Intercultural Affairs, which sponsors students to attend events such as the Overcoming Racism conference and others.
