A brief description of the farmers’ market:
The Columbia Greenmarket, located on Broadway between 114th & 116th Streets, takes place on Thursdays and Sundays from 8:00am to 5:00pm. It serves university students, faculty, and staff, St. Luke’s Hospital staff, visitors, and patients, as well as Upper West Side residents. Items such as fresh apples, apple cider, apple doughnuts, applesauce, organic milk, yogurt, cheese, pickled vegetables, preserved fruits, honey, flowers, herbs, plants, fresh bread, baked goods, eggs, maple syrup, and smoked meats are available. Columbia Dining purchases from greenmarket vendors such as Ballards Honey and Millport Dairy. Further, the Columbia Greenmarket hosts food scrap collection for compost from 8am-1pm and Textile drop-off and recycling from 8am-3pm on Sundays.
The Fort Washington Greemarket, located on 168th Street at Fort Washington, takes place on Tuesdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm. It serves residents and staff from New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center. Items such as specialty Mexican herbs, peppers, and greens, honey, jams, cheese, juice pressed from ripe orchard fruit, pastries, and fresh bread are available. The market also hosts cooking demonstrations, nutritional counseling, kids' games and health-related outreach events.
