Parking in the Morningside Heights and CUMC campus area is a scarce resource and Columbia encourages using alternative transportation to commute to and from campus. For the limited spots that are available at the one parking lot for essential personnel, commuter parking applicants must reside outside the borough of Manhattan. Only current students with a valid Columbia University ID who reside outside the borough of Manhattan are eligible for commuter parking from Monday through Friday between 4:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and on Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. by application on a space available basis. On the CUMC campus, Columbians who live in campus housing or in the surrounding neighborhood are not eligible for parking and their commute to the Medical Center campus must be a severe burden via public transportation to be eligible for a parking spot at one of the four lots. Therefore, cash out of parking is not necessary or applicable.
