A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:

The CSU Sustainability Fund, sponsored by the President’s Sustainability Commission, was created to support sustainability efforts across Colorado State University. In FY22, the CSU Sustainability Fund allocated $25,000 to seven sustainability projects, ranging from financial aid to support a tiny house build from a student capstone project, to testing forever chemicals in food packaging from CSU dining halls.

FY22 is the second year the university has allocated $25,000 to sustainability projects around campus. To date, this Fund has financially supported eleven projects. Project creativity is encouraged, but some suggestions include energy, water and other resource conservation efforts, academic initiatives, research projects and equipment/processes, education and outreach efforts, environmental justice projects, or other pilot and new grassroots sustainability initiatives.

A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:

The CSU Sustainability Fund consists of various employees and students from various departments and student groups across campus. The committee reviews projects using a rubric, and rates projects based on:

1. Holistic Sustainability Scope (project address all three tiers of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic)
2. Impact
3. Planning
4. Feasibility / Timeline
