A brief description of the institution’s green athletics program:

CSU’s Canvas Stadium, hosting football games and practice, earned LEED Silver in 2019. Moby Arena, home to basketball and volleyball games, is heated and cooled by the GeoExchange (GeoX) system, located underneath the Intra-mural (IM) fields. A sign outside of Moby helps educate fans about the underground system. The GeoX system is a network of pipes and wells that utilize the ambient temperature of the ground to heat and cool liquid that is then piped back to Moby.

Fort Collins Transit MAX, HORN (ADA accessible), and West Campus lines provide free and increased frequency service on Game Day at CSU to promote fans in the community as well as CSU students, staff, and faculty to take public transit to campus.

CSU’s Zero Waste Team acts as peer educators at many of CSU’s athletic events, answering questions regarding waste sorting, the importance of clean waste streams and zero waste practices. They sort recycling, compost, and landfill bins at CSU football, basketball and volleyball games to ensure as much landfill waste is diverted as possible.
