A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

The University Employee Orientation includes both the broad accomplishments and importance of sustainability here at CSU. Informational materials from the Campus Energy Coordinator are provided including information and resources on energy, water and resource conservation opportunities for employees. Information includes "Ideas to Save Electricity", recycling guidelines, and general sustainability practices here at CSU. The Alternative Transportation Manager also provides information about the free transit passes available to all faculty and staff, the Guaranteed Ride Home program through Parking Services, and other resources for transportation options. Maps and brochures are available on bicycling routes and transit information. Every new CSU employee receives a direct personal email from Transportation Services in partnership with multiple other offices at the university regarding alternative transportation options, as well as affordable housing, employee assistance, and childcare resources. Additionally, the Campus Recreation Center provides information on health and wellness opportunities open to faculty and staff. All employees are required to participate in the new employee orientation as part of their onboarding process.

Environmental Health and Safety delivers mandatory safety and sustainability-related training to new lab users through its website.

New employees in Facilities Management and Housing & Dining Services receive sustainability education information as part of the on-boarding process. Information includes basic energy conservation practices, recycling/composting guides, professional development opportunities, and tips and encouragement to utilize alternative transportation options.
