A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

CSU offers a comprehensive set of programs to support diversity in the student body;

- NSF's AGEP Fellowship Program seeks to increase the number of students successfully completing quality PhD programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Particular emphasis is placed on supporting groups that historically have been underrepresented in STEM disciplines: African American, Hispanic, Native Pacific Islander, and those enrolled in American Indian, and Alaskan Native tribes, and disabled students.

- The school has Cultural Centers including; the Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center, Black/African American Cultural Center, El Centro Student Services, Native American Cultural Center, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center, Women and Minorities in Engineering, Women and Gender Advocacy Center, Veterans Student Services, and the Office for Resources for Disabled Students.

- The Graduate Center for Diversity; committed to providing an environment that supports all forms of diversity.

- The Off-Campus Student Services/Resources for Adult Learners offers a variety of services and programs for commuter, off-campus and non-traditional students including support groups, peer mentor programs and social events for single parent students, veteran students, women students, and commuter students


A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the faculty:

The Office of Equal Opportunity strives to create and maintain a work and student environment that is fair, humane, and respectful so that each member of the University community is treated with dignity and rewarded for such relevant considerations as ability and performance. The University is committed to preventing, correcting and disciplining incidents of unlawful harassment or discrimination. CSU's policy applies to all persons affiliated with the University, including its students and employees.

The Office of Equal Opportunity provides resources for faculty and staff, including Faculty training and seminars.

CSU also has an innovative and successful program oriented towards empowering women in the CSU community. Ripple Effect is about finding ways to ensure that all members of our community have the resources and support they need to be successful, contributing and engaged members of our campus and community. In it's early stages it has been successful in getting the university engaged in sharing ideas that create real change, helping the university leadership make a commitment toward hearing those ideas, facilitating more discussion around them, and acting on the best ideas.
