Has the institution installed vending machine motion sensors for at least one vending machine?:
Yes

A brief description of the technology used:

Previously, CSU had vending machines on campus with a technology called Vending Miser. This sensor regulated cooling and lighting of the machine when it is not in use. In the summer of 2011 CSU switched to Energy Star machines through Coke. In addition to the added benefits of the energy star machines, CSU and Coke have agreed that the lights are generally not needed in most of these machines and they will be removed. Testing has shown that these new machines will reduce energy use even further than the Vending Misers.
