Which of the following best describes the institution’s approach to rainwater management?:
No written policies, plans or guidelines, but green infrastructure and LID practices are used

A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:

We try to use landscape swails, rain gardens, etc instead of treatment systems, settling tanks, etc. Most of the time it works. Sometimes when there just isn’t sufficient room, we end up with a concrete structure or filter. The good news is that green solutions to water quality are less expensive than less green solutions. So, for once, it saves money to do something more sustainable.

A brief description of the institution’s rainwater management policy, plan, and/or guidelines that supports the responses above:

Mines complies with the City of Golden’s MS4 permit. We have several detention and water quality features on campus, and we accommodate future storm water quality and detention as part of the planning and design for new facilities. The civil engineers work with the architects to evaluate stormwater. It is illegal in Colorado to collect rainwater for commercial buildings.
