A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:
We contract with Eco-cycle in Boulder to offer zero waste event services for several large events annually and promote them as zero waste events. Their services include waste minimization and communications and signage about sustainable practices. The Sustainability Office provides compostable serviceware including compostable utensils and plant-based compostable plastic cups, for these events. The caterer provides vegan options and locally sourced food. Prior to the event, the Sustainability coordinator works with the planning committees to reduce paper and signage for the event. Eco-cycle submits a report after the event that provides details on waste diversion and carbon emissions avoidance for each event.
