1st campaign
People Power Planet - Students
A brief description of the campaign:
The People Power Planet campaign promotes energy efficiency and waste reduction within its facilities by demonstrating to students, faculty, and staff that their behavior can have an impact on the environment. The campaign's primary focus is on energy and water conservation outreach through printed materials, workshops, a website, social media, newsletter, and an energy use dashboard. Students, faculty, and staff are shown how small changes—such as turning off lights, unplugging unnecessary electronics, and taking shorter showers conserve energy and water and can make a difference in their lives every day and help to protect the environment. We also use the website and social media to promote sustainability principles in general such as waste reduction and composting principles. Website: https://peoplepowerplanet.com/highered/mines/
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
McKinstry’s Performance module is focused on tracking and reporting energy use. The Performance module provides ENERGY STAR® benchmarking, utility tracking, and measurement and quantification of the program efforts to keep Mines informed of progress within their facilities and identify trends. Key measurement indicators are reported in a user-friendly online dashboard that displays utility bill metrics, performance data, and detailed monthly energy and carbon savings by facility to demonstrate the effectiveness of on-site initiatives.
