A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:
The literacy assessment was developed in 2019 during Mines Earth Week to act as a sustainability literacy assessment for the Mines campus. This assessment was adopted to fulfill the AC-6 requirement and was developed based on sustainability literacy assessments conducted at other institutions.

A brief description of how a representative sample was reached (if applicable) and how the assessment(s) were administered :
The assessment was administered during a Mines Earth Week event. Participants were asked to take the assessment and rewarded with food following completion of the assessment. The assessment was given to any Mines student that passed by and expressed interest in the assessment.

A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):
The results of this literacy assessment show that the students surveyed are relatively well-versed in sustainability trivia; generally think social justice and sustainability are related; participate in recycling and turning off lights; and often don't participate in sustainable eating habits, using reusable bags, composting, air-drying laundry, or using cold water for laundry.
