A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
To complete this inventory, an Excel catalog of all courses offered by the Colorado School of Mines was conditionally formatted based on the occurrence of keywords like "hydrology," "sustainability," "environment," "energy," "community," "social responsibility," an otherwise. Then, all course entries marked as containing any of these key words were reviewed and coded by human volunteers based on the relative importance of sustainability in the course description. Course descriptions that allocated more than 50% of its content to talking about sustainability topics were designated as "sustainability-focused." Courses that contained less sustainability focus but still referenced at least one of the 17 SDGs (at least conceptually) were designated as "sustainability-inclusive."
