This document provides technical specifications on building energy policies and procedures in keeping with our 2009 ratification of the ACUPCC Presidents' Climate Commitment and our concomitant goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

In 2023, the college adopted sustainability as a core institutional value during its recent update to its strategic plan called "Mountain Futures:  CMC 2023-2030," which names four commitments as the pillars of our plans through the rest of the decade:  Care, Equity, Integrity and Innovation. Moreover, in recognition of the effort it took to produce this first CMC STARS report, Mountain Futures officially designated AASHE STARS as one of the frameworks by which the College will measure its progress toward our strategic priorities, specifically within the Care commitment area that is focused on wellbeing. See the section on our Care-related strategic activities vis-a-vis the STARS framework.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

CMC recently completed its new strategic plan: "Mountain Futures." That plan was approved by the Board of Trustees in May 2023. The plan is uploaded as a PDF here, and that document includes added highlighting of vision, mission, principles, and objectives elements that reference sustainability directly (using the term or describing its thrust). Some highlighted sections are also directly relevant to one or more of the STARS criteria. The addition of the highlights is not meant to indicate that other material that comprises the strategic plan is NOT related to sustainability. Most of it is or can be, but it is not entirely clear that sustainability is the central thrust of this unmarked material.

The PDF document included here was shared publicly with the CMC community in May 2023. The strategic plan information is now available online as well: https://coloradomtn.edu/about-us/vision-mission-values-principles/?ss360SearchTerm=strategic%20plan
